The deceased was identified as Arvind B, a resident of Thiruveedhi Amman Koil Street in Aminjikarai. He had recently gotten married to Preethi, and the couple had gone to Himachal on a honeymoon. The accident occurred at Dobhi near the popular tourist hotspot of Manali in Kullu district. In her statement to the police, Preethi said Arvind had booked a paragliding flight at counter number 369 while she decided to wait on the ground.

Shortly after getting airborne with paragliding pilot, Haru Ram, Arvind fell to his death into a gorge. Reports from there indicated that the safety belt was not properly fastened, which led to the accident. Kullu police Superintendent Gaurav Singh said pilot Haru Ram sustained injuries in the accident. Ram has been taken to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Based on Preethi’s statement, a case was registered under Sections 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304 (causing death by rash or negligent act) of the Indian Penal Code at the Patlikuhal police station, SP Singh said.
