2 held for raping married woman

The arrested persons were identified as Harish Kumar (28) of Nesapakkam and his friend Ramesh (29) of Indira Nagar in Virugambakkam. The duo was booked under Sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison), 354C (voyeurism), 384 (extortion) and 506(1) (criminal intimidation), and remandedin judicial custody.

They met the woman at a temple festival and allegedly gave her prasad laced with sedatives. They then took her away and raped her, the woman said in her complaint. The accused also robbed her jewels and took obscene photographs of her with them. They then started threatening her using the photos and sexually assaulted her several times. On one occasion, they asked her to come to a men’s hostel in Ambattur on the promise of returning her jewellery and allegedly gangraped her. The police said that they would apprehend the other suspects involved in the case. Their mobiles were seized and sent for forensic analysis.
