Govt medical colleges to offer new super speciality courses
Eight State-run medical colleges in Tamil Nadu will offer new super speciality courses like Doctor of Medicine in Interventional Radiology, Medical Oncology and Neurology with an additional number of super speciality seats from the next academic year

The State Health Department will commence six super speciality courses from 2020-2021 academic year. The department has also proposed increasing the number of seats in the already existing six super speciality courses in government medical colleges.
The Madras Medical College has been allotted four new postgraduate seats in Interventional Radiology, while Government Stanley Medical College would add four Medical Oncology seats and five additional seats in Neurology.Â
Government Kilpauk Medical College has been allotted two additional seats in surgical oncology, and Government Chengalpattu Medical College has four new seats in surgical oncology and one additional seat in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Madurai Medical College will get additional seats in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, neurosurgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery. Coimbatore Medical College, Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College in Salem and Tirunelveli Medical College will get four seats each in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, urology and surgical gastroenterology respectively.
Senior officials from the Directorate of Medical Education has communicated the decision to the Medical Council of India (MCI) after paying the fees for the new courses to the Board of Governors of the MCI.
