Land grab: Charge sheet filed against ex-Mayor

The complaint was lodged by S Parthiban, who had contested as an independent candidate against Subramanian in the 2016 Assembly elections. He alleged that the couple had grabbed two plots in Guindy belonging to Small Industries Development Corporation (Sidco) in 1996 and constructed a three-storey building to live there. The complainant added that these plots were originally allotted by Sidco to one SK Kannan. But Subramanian and his wife allegedly fabricated documents to prove that the MLA’s wife wasKannan’s daughter.

The Guindy police had registered a case on June 3, which was subsequently transferred to theCB-CID for investigation. In June, the Madras High Court granted anticipatory bail to Subramanian and his wife.

After completion of investigation, the CB-CID submitted the charge sheet for offences of forgery and cheating and also under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
