    Two on speeding bike killed after collision with bus

    Two bike riders, who were part of a group who were speeding on the East Coast Road, died after their vehicle collided head on with a private bus near Kolathur check post near Sunambedu, Kancheepuram, around 10 am on Wednesday. One of the deceased was working in Singapore and had come to the city on a two-month leave, said police.

    The victims were identified as David (32), who was working in Singapore, and Santhosh Kumar (25), a resident of Pachankuppam near Cuddalore. They were not wearing helmets, police said.


    Police said that five of them were riding on three bikes from Sunambedu towards Marakanam when the accident happened. The bikers were speeding together and were zigzagging to pass the barricades kept across the road to reduce the speed of the vehicles.


    While two bikers managed to pass, the third bike got trapped and the vehicle hit the bus coming from the opposite direction. In the impact, the rider and the pillion were thrown off the vehicle. Both of them sustained severe head injuries and were rushed to the government hospital in Madurantakam, where the doctors declared them brought dead.


    The driver of the bus escaped from the scene immediately after the incident. The Sunambedu police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
