The deceased girl, Meena, was living with her aunt in Adambakkam. A special team is formed to nab the suspect, her 28-year-old cousin Balu. According to the police, the girl’s father died of cancer nine years ago. A few years later, her mother also died. Since then, her aunt Divya was taking care of the child.
According to police, her aunt was working at the housekeeping department of a private hospital in Adambakkam. She also has two sons, one of whom is Balu, the accused. After Balu got married, he started pestering Divya to transfer her property to his name. As Divya refused to do so, Balu used to quarrelwith her often.
Balu also did not like Meena living in the house and allegedly used to say that she was an unnecessary burden on the family. On Tuesday afternoon, one of their relatives who came to Divya’s house found the girl lying dead with multiple cut injuries and her dress torn. Soon, she informed Divya and the girl was rushed to the private hospital where the former was working. However, the doctors declared the girl dead on arrival. The Adambakkam police sent the body to the Chromepet Government Hospital for autopsy. During investigation, some of the neighbours said they saw Balu entering the house.
The police have formed a special team to nab Balu, who has been absconding from Tuesday afternoon. They also suspect that he might have raped or attempted to rape the girl and are waiting for the autopsy report.(All names have been changed)
