Robber gang nabbed within 1 hour, police personnel rewarded
The Otteri police nabbed a duo within an hour of them robbing two men at knifepoint in Pulianthope in the wee hours of Friday. The personnel who acted swiftly and nabbed the duo were rewarded by city Police Commissioner AK Viswanathan.

When Otteri sub-inspector P Premkumar and Basin Bridge Grade-I constable (intelligence) D Kannan were on night patrol near the Otteri flyover, a lorry driver, Prakash (32), approached them and informed that he was robbed at knifepoint by a three-member gang a few minutes ago near Nataraja theatre. When the team went to the spot, another man, Selvakumar (30) of Pulianthope, a software engineer, also informed them that the gang intercepted his car and robbed him.
The police team searched the locality and found three men moving in a suspicious manner. When they tried to flee, the personnel managed to secure two of them, identified as B Surya (22) and V Vignesh (24) of Pattalam. The third suspect who escaped has been identified as Prakash.
Inquiries revealed that both Vignesh and Prakash have cases against them. The duo was remanded in judicial custody and a hunt has been launched for Prakash.
Commissioner Viswanathan rewarded SI Premkumar, constable D Kannan and two Friends of Police (FoP) members – Mehaboob and Dillibabu – at his office on Saturday.
