Flyover works hit bus movement, says Minister
Speaking to the press after taking stock of the arrangements made at the Chennai Moffusil Bus Terminus and omnibus terminus at Koyambedu, Transport Minister MR Vijayabhaskar said that 2.67 lakh passengers have travelled in 5,575 buses operated by the State-run Transport Corporations.

To facilitate free movement of buses to various parts of the State, the Transport Corporations are operating buses from five temporary termini in the city, he added.
On the question of heavy traffic at Koyambedu, he said that the operation of buses was spread across the city to decongest Koyambedu.
“If we had operated all the buses from Koyambedu, the vehicles will not be able to get out of the terminus. However, the work on the Koyambedu flyover is causing traffic congestion,” he said, adding that the traffic police were posted in all the key spots to ensure free movement of vehicles.
“In the places where flyover constructions are taking place like in Vandalur, the traffic has been impacted,” added the Minister.
