Robbers attack man with iron rod in Ambattur

The victim, Manibalan (26) of Reddipalayam, got six stitches on his head and the police are yet to trace the suspects.

The incident happened in the wee hours when the victim, who works at a sweet shop, was on his way to work. A three-member gang intercepted him and demanded his valuables. When Manibalan refused, the gang attacked him with an iron and fled the spot. Passers-by rescued and admitted him to a hospital. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.

Passers-by chased and secured a 29-year-old man after he tried to snatch a gold chain from a woman pedestrian in Tiruvanmiyur on Wednesday.

The accused, M Dharani (26) of Besant Nagar, was remanded in judicial custody. The incident happened around 2 pm when the victim K Seetha (32) of Kalakshetra Colony was walking to her house. The two-wheeler used by Dharani was also seizedand he was remanded injudicial custody.
