    MTC to operate 310 specials to five temporary terminals from Oct 24 to 26

    Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) on Wednesday announced the operation of 310 special buses connecting five temporary bus terminals from where out-station buses would be operated for three days from Thursday.

    “In connection with Deepavali, to reduce the traffic snarls in Chennai and to ease the travel of long route passengers, adequate special link buses would be made available for the ensuing three days starting from October 24,” an MTC release stated.


    Long-distance buses would be operated from Madhavaram Mofussil Bus Terminus, Tambaram New Bus Terminus (MEPZ) and Tambaram Railway Station, Poonamallee Bus Terminus, CMBT Bus Terminus and KK Nagar Bus Terminus to facilitate traffic-free movement of vehicles. Apart from the normal daily services to the terminals, MTC would operate 310 special buses on October 24 to 26 round the clock. Andhra Pradesh bound buses would be operated from the Madhavaram New Bus stand to which MTC will operate 36 special bus services. Twenty-three special buses will run to KK Nagar bus terminus.


    Long-distance buses to Tindivanam, Vikravandi, Panruti and Tiruvannamalai would ply from Tambaram MEPZ and railway station and it will get 106 special buses. While the buses plying via Vellore would be operated from Poonamallee, it will get 72 special buses. All other long-distance buses would be operated from CMBT, to which MTC will operate 73 special buses.
