Trio held with heroin in Neelankarai

When the police were involved in a vehicle check based on a tip-off, a car passed them without stopping. A patrol vehicle chased the car and intercepted it a few kilometres away. Three men in the car, who were in possession of heroin worth 1 lakh, were arrested.

The police said that the trio had completed their graduation in the city last year. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the men, apart from using the drugs, also supplied narcotics for weekend parties on East Coast Road.The car in their possession was also seized.

While the trio was remanded in judicial custody, a probe has been initiated to find out where they bought the drugs from. The seized heroin has been sent to the forensic lab for analysis.
