European woman seeks police help to trace city bizman
A 22-year-old woman from Europe, who landed in the city, is frantically looking for her partner, a city-based businessman who allegedly brought her to India with a promise of marriage and later disappeared. The police are now on the lookout for the businessman, who is into prawn exports.

The Lithuanian woman, in her complaint, said that she met businessman R Ahamed, a resident of Amanjikarai, in Dubai where she was studying, during his business visit.
According to the complainant, she was brought to India by Ahamed. He had arranged for her stay in a hotel in Kochi, Kerala, earlier. Now living in Egmore, the woman claimed she was forced to medically terminate her pregnancy in June this year in a city hospital when she was 5 months pregnant. She further said in the complaint that she is currently 2 months pregnant.
The complainant said that she was in touch with the businessman and had been asking him to marry her.
“She claims that they met in Dubai when Ahamed was on a business trip. It looks like he had stopped attending her calls and switched off his mobile phone. She is unable to reach him. So she sought action against him,” the police said.
They have registered a case of cheating, criminal intimidation and causing miscarriage without woman’s consent.
