CES conducts one-day seminar on air quality management at Anna University

The chief guest of the event was Minister for Environmental and Pollution Control, KC Karuppannan, and Vice-chancellor, Anna University, Prof MK Surappa presided over the occasion. The guest of honour was Additional Chief Environmental Engineer, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, Chennai, S Selvan. The guests were welcomed by professor and director, Centre for Environmental Studies, S Kanmani.

Speaking at the event, the Minister requested every member of a family to plant a minimum of 4 trees for better and clean environment. He also pointed out that the Tamil Nadu government has taken the first initiative for plastic ban.

He also added that the government help in implement the rain water harvesting in the State. The Minister also stated that the Environment Department has provided LCD projectors to nearly 8,000 schools in the State to make awareness to the student society about clean environment.

The Anna University Vice-Chancellor Surappa requested the government to implement the Environment education right from school level so that it will help the young generation learn more aboutenvironment.

The event concluded with vote of thanks by Division of Transportation Engineering professor K Gunasekaran. The event was attended by members from academia and industry.
