Lack of signal at DLF junction troubles commuters
Lack of a traffic signal at DLF junction near Porur has resulted in a chaotic situation with pedestrians and motorists facing the brunt. The failure to install a signal has also led to numerous accidents, say motorists.

Many commuters feel that the absence of signal was the main reason for accidents taking place along the busy stretch. “Riding a bike here is a challenging task. Not only near the IT Park, but many junctions in this locality lack signals. Pedestrians crossing the road without signalling their hands cause major threat to motorists,” said Vinodh Ramachandran, who travels on the stretch every day.
Pedestrians complain that they have no separate pathway. With IT Park on one side and an auto stand and bus shelter on other side, it makes the place very congested. Commercial establishments here have narrowed the roads and made it difficult for us, they lamented.
“The road is busy all the time. It is the security guard who helps us cross the road by regulating the vehicles. Overspeeding vehicles during the peak hours pose huge threat to pedestrians. Erecting a signal here is a must or the police should post at least two to three traffic personnel to regulate vehicles,” said Sivaranjini V, who works at DLF.
Speaking to DT Next, traffic police said, “It is difficult for us to handle the traffic especially during peak hours. We have informed the senior officers regarding the issue and the process of installing traffic lights is expected to start soon.”
