Chennai
According to police, Sakthivel (50) and his son Ravi (23), natives of Ariyalur district, were running a fruit shop on Govindappa Naicken Street at Flower Bazaar. Unable to afford a rental house, they were staying on the platform with families, said police.
On Monday, a scuffle broke out between Sakthivel and Ravi over a family dispute. Passers-by alerted the police control room and constable Chandrasekar from Flower Bazaar police station arrived at the spot and tried to pacify the two.
In the melee, Ravi allegedly hit the police constable on his face. Chandrasekar, who started bleeding from the nose, fainted at the spot. Seeing this, both father and son escaped from the spot. Other policemen took the injured constable and admitted him to a nearby hospital.
Based on their complaint, the father-son duo was arrested on Tuesday. Further investigation is on.
