College student held for sexually harassing professor on ECR

The arrested person was identified as Vivesh, a resident of Ambattur, who was also working part time.

Vivesh was studying in a private college near Mahabalipuram and the victim was a 25-year-old female assistant professor of the same college. Both hailed from Andhra Pradesh.

The police said that Vivesh invited the assistant professor for a dinner on Friday as he had completed his course. As both of them are from the same State, the faculty accepted his invite.

“On Friday evening, he picked her up from a women’s hostel in Sholinganallur on a two-wheeler and told her that he was taking her to a hotel on ECR in Poonjeri,” a police officer said.

According to the complaint filed by the assistant professor, Vivesh took her to an isolated place where he undressed her and took videos at knifepoint. She was later dropped back by Vivesh.

“On Saturday, he called her on her phone and asked her to get intimate with him. When she shouted at him, he threatened to upload video he had taken on Friday night on social media,” the officer added.

Shocked over this, the assistant professor lodged a complaint with the Semmenchery police station. After initial probe, the police team arrested Vivesh from Koyambedu on Monday and later remanded him in judicial custody.
