75 sovereigns looted on outskirts in 2 cases
Intruders looted 75-sovereigns of gold ornaments in separate incidents in Pallikaranai and Perungalathur on Tuesday.

Munirudien (45) of Parasuram Nagar in Pallikaranai works in private insurance firm. A few days ago, he had gone to Cuddalore along with his family. When they returned home on Tuesday morning, they were shocked to find the door broke-open. The complaint he filed said ornaments weighing 40 sovereigns were missing from the house. The Pallikaranai police who checked CCTV footage from the nearby building found two men wearing helmets entering the house around 2.30 am on Monday and escaping on a two-wheeler. They have registered a case and are investigating.
In the second case, Mohan (35) of KK Nagar in Peerkankaranai had gone to his hometown in Jayankondam along with his family. On Tuesday morning, they returned home to find that the back door of the house was broke-open. The intruders looted 35 sovereigns and Rs 50,000 cash from the house. The Peerkankaranai police have registered a case.
At Mallika Street in Peerkankaranai, the intruders broke-open the house of Rajarathinam, a retired Central government employee. There were no valuables found in the house, but they took 300 old coins that he had collected over the years.
