Real estate broker held for assaulting constable

The accused was identified as Muthu Murugesan alias ‘Thakkali’ Muthu of Vinayakapuram. He was booked under Sections 294(b), 323, 353 and 506(2) of the IPC and remanded him in judicial custody on Saturday.

According to the police, the incident happened on Friday night when Muthu allegedly called the police control room and reported of a quarrel in Kalmandapam. When police constable Sonamuthu from Puzhal police station reached the spot, Muthu, who was under the influence of alcohol, allegedly attacked the personnel who was in uniform. Both suffered injuries in the clash and were admitted to the hospital. Based on a complaint lodged by Sonamuthu, the police registered a case and arrested Muthu. Further investigation is on.
