College student commits suicide
A final-year student of Pachaiyappa’s College was found hanging at his grandmother’s house in Koyambedu on Thursday. The deceased, S Hariharan from Arumbakkam, a BA Economics student, went to his grandmother’s house on Bajanai Koil Street in Koyambedu on Wednesday night.

Around 5 am, his grandmother tried to open the room door. As it was locked from inside, she and her husband broke open the door to find Hariharan hanging from the fan using a saree. They alerted Hariharan’s father Sudaroli, who rushed to the spot. On information, the CMBT police sent his body to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
In another incident, a 42-year-old woman, who separated from her husband 10 years ago due to differences, committed suicide in Pulianthope as her mother allegedly forced her to get married again. The deceased, Thangamani of Kannikapuram stayed with her mother, said police. On Thursday morning, she was found hanging from the ceiling in her house.
