CMRL extends cab service to Airport, Washermenpet stations
Chennai Metro Rail has extended its cab feeder service to the Airport and the Washermenpet stations to provide last-mile connectivity to the passengers, on Friday.

An official statement from the Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) said that it had tied up with Bengaluru Mega Cabs Private Limited for providing feeder services in six operational Metro Stations –Nandanam, AG-DMS, Thousand Lights, LIC, Government Estate and Chennai Central from August 5 through an app-based system.
From Friday, it has also introduced additional cab services to Washermenpet and Airport Metro stations. “The feeder operation route covers a distance of six km to eight km from each of the stations at a flat rate of Rs 10. The ticketing collection system for this service is also integrated with Chennai Metro Smart Card system and Chennai Metro Rail mobile app,” it said.
The services will also be extended to Saidapet, Nanganallur Road, Nehru Park, Kilpauk, Shenoy Nagar, Anna Nagar Tower, Arumbakkam Metro stations shortly. CMRL had taken the initiative of providing several last-mile connectivity measures for the passengers through the operation of share auto and share taxis from select stations. Share auto feeder service is being operated in Guindy, Tirumangalam, Alandur, Little Mount, Ekkaduthangal, Koyambedu, St Thomas Mount and Ashok Nagar stations with a flat tariff of Rs 5. The share taxi services are being operated at Egmore, AG-DMS, Anna Nagar East, Koyambedu, Alandur and Vadapalani, covering an area up to three km radius with a flat tariff of Rs 10.
