Man held, 15,000 litre spirit seized near Kanchi

The officials received a tip-off that liquor was being prepared at a farmland in Melparamanalur village near Kancheepuram, which led to a preliminary investigation. 

After finding out that the information was true, a team from the wing surrounded the farmland early morning on Wednesday and arrested Ramesh Kumar (38). When they inspected the place closely, the police found 425 cans of spirit that contained about 15,000 litres. 

They also seized the equipment used to prepare the liquor. The spirit and equipment were estimated to be worth nearly Rs 1 crore, said sources, adding that it was smuggled from Andhra Pradesh. The officials are now searching for Vasu and Mani who are absconding.
