Alert Being Awards presented to 15 Good Samaritans
City Commissioner of Police AK Viswanathan on Sunday awarded 15 Good Samaritans, who have saved lives during the Alert Being Awards 2019 ceremony held at Crown Plaza. It was conducted by Alert, a non-profit organisation.

According to a release, Alert received around 100 nominations from five States and 19 districts across India this year.
Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali, Diwan to Prince of Arcot, Padma Shri Arunachalam Muruganantham and Actor Vijay Sethupathi and 15 Good Samaritans received the awards during the event. The organisers claimed that these people had made a difference to an individual life or the society at large. The last two editions witnessed the unique stories of 33 real-life heroes who were recognised.
Alert VoICE (Volunteer in Case of Emergency), a project that was launched at Alert Being Awards ceremony in 2018 to bridge the gap between medical emergency and arrival of professional help with voluntary response, has received a great response from the public.
Kala Balasundaram, founder of Alert said, “We have trained around 1,00,000 individuals through awareness workshops and inducted hundreds of skilled first responders into Alert VoICE. We have trained people from various walks of life, including students from over 225 academic institutions across India and employees of over 180 corporates and industries.”
MK Narayanan, Former National Security Advisor and Former Governor of West Bengal, were present at the event and also gave away the awards to the Good Samaritans.
