Students among 9 injured in multiple collision
Nine people, including five students, were injured in multiple collision involving a bus and two lorries near Walajabad on Wednesday.

A government SETC bus from Ullavur village was heading to Walajabad on Wednesday morning. When the public and government school students were boarding the bus at Sangunapuram bus stop, a lorry lost control and hit the rear of the bus. Then, it rammed on another lorry that was coming in the opposite direction before coming to a halt.
In the impact, five school students, three girls and two boys, and four others suffered injuries. The onlookers informed the police and admitted the injured to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital. All of them are out of danger, the police said.
Following the incident, the traffic was affected in Chengalpattu-Walajabad route for nearly two hours. The Palar police have registered a case and are inquiring.
Peanut vendor killed
A 50-year-old peanut vendor died after he was hit by a crane near Pallikaranai on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Aadimuthu from Boodhamangalam village near Tiruvannamalai. He was a pushcart peanut seller in Pallikaranai. When Aadimuthu was on Tambaram-Velachery Road with his pushcart on Tuesday evening, a crane hit him from the behind and Aadimuthu suffered severe injuries.
The crane driver escaped from the spot soon after the incident, abandoning his vehicle. Passers-by informed the police and the ambulance service. The injured, Aadimuthu, was taken to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.
On Wednesday morning, Aadimuthu died without responding to the treatment. On information, the St Thomas Mount Traffic investigation police registered a case and launched a hunt for the crane driver.
