Jilted lover slits wrist over ‘police inaction’ in Maduravoyal

Vicky of Kandasamy Nagar in Mettupalayam near Maduravoyal works as a bike mechanic in the neighbourhood. The police said that he initially visited the Aminjikarai police station and they directed him to Maduravoyal police station as he hails from there.

At Maduravoyal, he allegedly said that he wants to lodge a complaint against his lover because she ditched him and wanted to retrieve Rs 3,000 which he had spent on her. Police personnel, who were surprised at the complaint, asked him to visit the station on Tuesday morning as he was under the influence of alcohol.

However, Vicky went and stood in the middle of the road as if he wanted to get hit by the oncoming vehicles. While he refused to leave, he slit his wrist with a blade. Shocked police personnel rushed him to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital where he was treated as an outpatient. Doctors said the injury was not grievous.

On information, higher officials have ordered an inquiry into the incident.
