    The driver of a private company bus, which rammed a lorry near Madurantakam in Kancheepuram district, died on Wednesday.

    Eleven others, who were travelling on the bus, were also injured, said the police.

    The deceased was identified as Murugesan (50). The bus, belonging to a private car company, was heading towards Oragadam from Acharapakkam on Wednesday. The police said that there were 30 employees inside the bus, including the driver.


    When the bus was traveling on the GST Road in Kallapuran village near Madurantakam, the bus driver Murugesan tried to overtake a lorry that was carrying liquor from the nearby factory. But, he lost control of the vehicle and rammed the rear side of the lorry.


    In the impact, the front portion of the bus was crushed and Murugesan died on the spot. On information, the Madurantakam police team arrived at the spot and admitted the injured people to Madurantakam Government Hospital and Chengalpattu Medical College and Hospital. They also recovered the body of Murugesan and sent it for post-mortem examination.
