Chennai
Before breathing his last, the man, who was in an inebriated state, collected his blood in a liquor bottle and asked a friend to hand it over to his girlfriend as his last present.
The deceased was identified as Kumaresa Pandian, a resident of Nanganallur. The police said that he was working as a carpenter. Pandian was not married, and he was in a relationship with a woman for the last few years now. Both of them decided to get married after Pandian gets settled in life.
A few weeks ago, the woman stopped talking with Pandian. She didn’t pick Pandian’s calls and also blocked him on social media, added the police
Though he tried to contact her over phone and meet her several times, it was in vain. Following this, Pandian was dejected and didn’t talk to anyone properly, said the police quoting his friends.
On Tuesday night, Pandian went to his friend Muthu’s house to consume liquor along with a few others. He lamented to his friends that he couldn’t contact his girlfriend and suddenly, he broke a beer bottle and slit his left wrist. He collected the blood in another beer bottle. His friends, who were shocked, tried to stop him. However, he threatened and pushed them away.
After sometime, his friends managed to overpower him and rushed him to the Chromepet Government Hospital in an ambulance.
The police said that Pandian did not even allow the doctors to treat him at the hospital. He then gave the blood he collected to a friend and asked him to hand it over to the girlfriend. After Pandian became unconscious, the doctors tried to continue the treatment. But, he died at around 1.30 am. The Shankar Nagar police have registered a case and are inquiring.
