Nearly 1,475 revenue assistants’ posts vacant
Commissioner of Revenue Administration R Sathyagopal announced the vacancy of 1,475 posts for Revenue Assistants and directed all the district collectors to fill the existing vacancies.

In a letter written to all the district collectors, Sathyagopal has announced that out of 1,475 posts of Revenue Assistants, 91 would be filled directly and the remaining 1,384 posts would be filled through promotion. As far as direct recruitment is concerned, Sathyagopal has furnished all the required documents to TNPSC for including the vacancies in Group-II services.
However, as far as the promotional filling of vacancies is considered the district collectors were asked to fill the posts through promotion of eligible candidates to the posts. The lists of existing vacancies were obtained from each district and the list of direct recruitment alone was separated and sent to TNPSC.
Among the direct recruitment vacancies, Chennai has the most number of vacancies with 31 and Vellore and Tiruvannamalai have 25 and 18 vacancies respectively. In many of the districts there are zero vacancies for the post of Revenue Assistants through direct recruitment.
As far as promotion vacancies are considered, Kancheepuram has the maximum vacancies of 167 followed by Chennai with 109 vacancies. Theni and Namakkal has zero vacancies for Revenue Assistants to be filled through promotion.
