Two fined Rs 15K, 10K for drunk driving
On Wednesday, the 22nd Metropolitan magistrate fined a person Rs 10,000 for drunk driving. The fine receipt has been going viral.

Even as the State government is yet to notify the revised fine system in the amended Motor Vehicle Act introduced by the Centre in July this year, a man booked for drunk driving and not possessing licence in the city was fined Rs 15,000.
Another person was fined Rs 10,000 for drunk driving. Triplicane traffic enforcement police said that Santhosh was caught on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, the 22nd Metropolitan magistrate fined him Rs 10,000. The fine receipt has been going viral.
Another person identified as Viswa was slapped the Rs 15,000 fine by the same magistrate. When contacted, judicial experts claimed that judges had the liberty to implement the revised fines. “Only the police and transport departments will have to wait until the state notifies, judiciary needn’t,” said the source.
