    Drunk man falls from third floor, survives

    A 23-year-old man, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, miraculously survived despite having fallen from the third floor of a building in Ayanavaram.

    The victim, B Imran of Veerasamy Street who works as a food delivery agent, is currently undergoing treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) with injuries to his head and leg.


    The incident happened around 1 am on Monday when he was sitting on the water tank on the terrace of the building. He lives with his wife and children on the ground floor, the police said.


    Imran’s wife Rizwana, who heard a thud, came out of the house and was shocked to find Imran lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, from where he was transferred to RGGGH. The Ayanavaram police said that Imran slipped and fell, and added that he was out of danger.


    Man falls into well, rescued


    In a similar case, an inebriated man who fell into a 35-ft deep empty well at Pallavaram was rescued by the Tambaram Fire and Rescue Services personnel in the wee hours of Tuesday.


    Police said that the victim, Balaji (32) of Anakaputhur, worked in a private company in Tambaram. The incident is said to have taken place when he went to attend nature’s call. After he failed to return, his family members went in search of him with torchlights and found him inside the well after a few hours.


    On information, Tambaram Fire and Rescue Services personnel arrived at the spot and rescued him. He was admitted to Chromepet Government Hospital as he suffered injuries in the fall.


    Businessman falls to death from 10th floor


    A 41-year old businessman fell to his death from the 10th floor of his apartment at Padur on Monday night. The victim, Shanthi Prasad, was alone at his house on Monday night as his wife had gone to her parents’ house. On Tuesday morning, the security guard of the apartment spotted his body near the parking lot and raised an alarm. On information, Kelambakkam police went to the spot and moved his body to the Chengalpattu government hospital for post-mortem examination. The police found liquor bottles in Shanthi Prasad’s house and further investigation is on to ascertain whether he accidentally fell off or he killed self. Shanthi Prasad had a textile shop in Velachery, said the police.
