Juvenile stabbed to death, teenager arrested
A juvenile was allegedly murdered by a 18-year-old man from village near Chengalpattu in Kancheepuram on Thursday.
Chennai
Police suspect that the teenager was murdered for refusing sexual relationship with the teenager, identified as Anbu.
The deceased, A Surya (16), from Kuruvenmedu village in Chengalpattu, was working as a helper for a man who owns earthmovers. As it was a holiday on Thursday owing to Independence Day, Surya went to attend a temple function in the village. When he failed to return home till night, his parents and the neighbours went in search and found him dead in Palar riverbed with cut injuries.
Surya’s father Arul took the body to the house without informing the police. Even after a police team from Palur asked him to handover the body for post-mortem examination, he refused initially, before being convinced by other villagers.
After police found that Surya was roaming with Anbu of the same locality that morning, they caught him for questioning. Police said Anbu confessed to killing the boy. Police believe Surya refused his sexual overtures, which could have led to the murder.
