Tech from Aus to support organ transplant in city

Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director - Alfred Heart & Lung Transplant Program Dr Kumud Dhital and Chairman of MIOT Hospital Dr Mallika Mohandas signed an MoU to bring these technologies at MIOT.

The EVLP is an innovative technique designed to keep the pair of lungs ‘alive’ outside the donor’s body before the lung transplant procedure. “In this technique, lungs are maintained at body temperature and treated with a bloodless solution,” said Dr Prakash M Ludhani, cardiothoracic and transplant surgeon, MIOT Hospital.
