Nazareth Math dept conducts inter-collegiate meet

The inauguration of the Mathematics Association gathering was addressed by Mary Angeline Principal of Nazareth College of Arts and Science.

Alamelu, head of the Department of Mathematics presented the annual report of the association. J Ravi Sankar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, School of Advanced Sciences at VIT University was the chief guest. The department newsletter EUREKA 2019 was released.

Ravi Sankar while addressing the gathering, shared the scope of mathematics and the opportunities available for students with mathematics major as elective subject. The students were given information regarding the scholarships granted by the government for higher education in mathematics. He spoke about the concepts Algebra, Operation Research, Cryptography, Graph Theory and their applications in day-to-day life.

Contests like Su-do-ku, collage, paper presentation and AD-ZAP were conducted during the second session. The inauguration ended with a vote of thanks and a valedictory function.
