This is like 10 years’ transformation challenge, where people uploaded their photo taken 10 years ago along with their recent picture. But now, FB users are vying with each other toretrieve their first image they had posted while opening their account.

For many, it has turned out to be traversing down the memory lane and surprised to see how they looked then and how they have grown.

Karthik. P, doing his M.Phil and an avid FB user, said “While browsing Facebook as usual I saw my FB friends uploading their first display picture as part of #firstdpchallenge. I also found few nominating their friends to accept the challenge. I have been using FB since 2009 and many wouldn’t have seen my picture taken 10 years ago. I thought it would be nice if people see my old photo and for me it was nostalgic.”

Many users have taken up the challenge after being nominated by their friends, others however, find it a futile exercise. “I don’t know why people encourage such activities on FB. It is such a waste of time and nothing beneficial will come out of it. In fact, people should post news or facts that create awareness and not repost photos that are 10 years old and already available on the social media site,” said G Karunya Devi, a techie. Meme makers have also utilised this opportunity and have come out with a bunch of hilarious memes.

Apart from FB users, even groups have stared updating their first profile pictures.
