History-sheeter found dead with head smashed

On Sunday morning, passers-by noticed a man lying in a pool of blood with his head smashed outside a carton godown in Nerkundram and alerted the police control room. On information, a team of police personnel from Koyambedu police rushed to the spot and sent his body to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Investigation revealed that the deceased was Ranjith (22) of Annai Abirami Nagar in Tiruverkadu, who had gone to consume liquor with his friends, identified as Vikki, Suresh, Karthik, Dinesh, Hariharasudan and Isravel.

As all six are absconding, police suspect that they could have murdered Ranjith in a drunken brawl, and have launched a hunt for them.

Ranjith was arrested last year by Poonamallee police for allegedly attacking a constable with machete.
