Industries Minister MC Sampath inaugurated the electric vehicle charging facility for cars, two and three-wheelers at the Metro station, along with an app-based feeder service from the station. The function was chaired by CMRL MD Pankaj Kumar Bansal.

As part of its plan to promote the green vehicles, the CMRL has planned to install EV chargers in all the 26 metro stations of the 45 km-long Phase-I.

In order to improve the ridership through provisions of first and last-mile connectivity, CMRL has tied up with Bengaluru Megacabs Private Limited for providing feeder services at operational stations through an app-based system developed by Ford Mobility.

“The proposed feeder operation route covers a distance of 6-8 km from each station. It would pick up passengers from Metro station and drop them at their respective destinations at a fixed fare of Rs 10. The ticketing system for this service is also integrated with the Chennai Metro Smart Card system and Chennai Metro Rail mobile app system,” an official release said, adding that the app-based feeder service would be operated from Chennai Central, Government Estate, LIC, Thousand Lights, AG-DMS and Nandanam.
