Anna Salai becomes 2-way near Nandanam
The stretch on Anna Salai between Nandanam junction and Gemini flyover, which was made one-way in 2011 to facilitate laying of Metro rail, has been opened for two-way traffic again after seven years with the completion of Metro Rail work.

A trial run for two-way traffic with modifications was conducted on Friday by the city traffic police and after the positive feedback from motorists, the authorities have decided to make the traffic changes permanent. At Nandanam junction, the vehicles plying on Anna Salai from Saidapet will be allowed straight towards Teynampet, towards Chamiers Road on the right and the left-turn has towards Venkat Narayana Road has been made free-left. There will be no change in the movement of vehicles on Anna Salai from Teynampet towards Saidapet. At Nandanam junction, the vehicles plying on Chamiers Road will be allowed straight towards Venkat Narayana Road, towards Anna Salai-Teynampet on the right and the turn towards Saidapet has been made free-left. Similarly, at Nandanam Junction, the vehicles plying on Venkat Narayana Road will be allowed straight towards Chamiers, towards Anna Salai–Saidapet on the right and the turn towards Anna Salai-Teynampet has been made free-left.
