Using duplicate key, man drives away seized vehicle
A man, whose two-wheeler was seized by a traffic police team in KK Nagar for drunk driving, returned to the police station with a duplicate key and drove away his vehicle on Thursday night.

According to the police, sub-inspector Ramesh was checking the vehicles near Ashok Pillar when he found a man trying to dodge the police. However, he was nabbed by the officers and made to take a drunk driving test, in which he tested positive. During interrogation, he identified himself as Natarajan, a resident of Velachery. Subsequently, he was booked and the two-wheeler was impounded. The police also asked him to pay a fine of Rs 2,500 in the court.
The police team then kept the bike at KK Nagar police station along with the other impounded vehicles while Ramesh went home in an autorickshaw. Around 2 am, Natarajan allegedly reached the police station with another key and managed to escape with the vehicle.
The police team that reached the station after 30 minutes and found the impounded vehicle missing. When they checked the CCTV footage, they saw Natarajan escaping with the vehicle. They traced the vehicle using the registration number and nabbed him, said sources.
