The RSS supremo was at the shrine for about 20 minutes to offer prayers to the Lord AththiVaradhar.
Aththi means fig in Tamil and Varadhar refers to Lord Vishnu. Recently, President Ram Nath Kovind and Chief Minister K Palaniswami visited the temple to offer prayers. The Kancheepuram shrine has been witnessing heavy rush of devotees ever since the darshan of the idol commenced on July 1after it was taken out from the tank on June 27.
Four pilgrims faint while waiting in queue
Four pilgrims fainted when they were waiting in the queue to have darshan of Lord Aththi Varadhar at the Devarajaswamy temple here, police said on Thursday.
A medical team near the temple immediately provided treatment. Officials said they fainted due to dehydration. The devotees later offered prayers and left. It may be recalled that four devotees had died last week after darshan of Lord Aththi Varadhar, with Chief Minister K Palaniswami informing the State Assembly that they had ‘pre-existing’ health conditions.
