RMC forecasts wet weekend for Chennai
The chief amount of rainfall in the city this month has exceeded the normal chief rainfall of 149.4 mm of rainfall recording a total actual rainfall of about 220.9 mm till July 25 this month.

Various parts of the city received heavy to moderate rainfall on Thursday with Meenambakkam recording a highest of 77.8 mm of rain ending on Thursday evening 5.30 pm. Various other areas including Alandur, Kattankolathur, Guindy, K K Nagar and Mylapore received at least 50 mm of rain.
The regional meteorological department has issued a heavy rainfall warning stating that heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Kancheepuram, Vellore and Tiruvannamalai and other parts of North TN. However, no coastal warning has been issued for the fishermen. Other districts including Vellore, Sivagangai, Villupuram, Dindigul, Thiruvallur, the Nilgiris and Kancheepuram also received rain of about 7 cm-4 cm of rain. RMC stated that the sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy in the city for next 48 hours coupled with light to moderate rain and thundershower in some areas.
