The victim, K Lakshmi of Thoraipakkam, was admitted to Government Royapettah Hospital with a knife stuck in her neck on Wednesday evening. She was immediately transferred to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, where the knife was safely removed. Lakshmi is said to be stable now.
On information, the Thoraipakkam police conducted an inquiry with Lakshmi, who reportedly told the police that she was attacked by her neighbour Ramkumar, an auto driver.
The police said that there was previous enmity between Ramkumar’s and Lakshmi’s families and it escalated into a physical fight on Wednesday.
However, neighbours said that there was a quarrel between Ramkumar and his wife Mahalakshmi and Lakshmi was attacked when she tried to intervene and make peace between them.
