Drunk car driver on rogue run kills rider at Royapettah
A manager of a private bank, riding a two-wheeler, died after a car coming on the wrong side of the road hit him in Royapettah on Thursday. The occupants of the car, including the driver, were drunk, said the police.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Abdul Kaiyum of Royapettah. Abdul, who suffered severe injuries, was admitted to a government hospital, where he died on Thursday evening.
A footage collected from the CCTV camera showed the overspeeding car hitting Abdul’s two-wheeler. The police said that passers-by managed to nab one of the occupants in the car while the two others escaped abandoning the vehicle. The accused, Vijayakumar, was under the influence of alcohol. Vijayakumar has identified the other two occupants as Saravanan and Dileep Kumar and said that they were also drunk, during an inquiry. The Anna Square traffic police arrested Vijayakumar and are looking for the other two.
