Special drive: Police nab 33 repeat offenders
As many as 33 history-sheeters were nabbed in the last two days by a special team in south Chennai to bring down the crime rate.

While 11 men were arrested in St Thomas Mount range, the rest were nabbed in Adyar police district.
The accused arrested in St Thomas Mount have been identified as Dinesh alias Eli Dinesh (23), Raji alias Rajasekar (26) of Manapakkam, Manikandan (26), Prabu alias Rasu (25) of Girigori Street, Udayakumar alias Kopparai (24) of Adambakkam, Appu alias Thondai Appu (36), Seetharaman (28) of Palavanthangal, Ramesh (33), Devaraj (39) of Madiapakkam and Babloo (32) of Kilkattalai. The arrested have at least three cases of either murder, kidnap or robbery cases pending against them and are being arrested as a precautionary measure, the police said.
They were produced before Alandur magistrate and remanded in judicial custody onThursday.
Similarly, the Adyar police, too, arrested 22 persons. While the Saidapet police arrested M Imran (23) and M Appen (30), the Shastri Nagar police arrested M Rajkumar (26) of Royapuram. The police said that the action has been taken after several crimes including murders, assault and robbery were reported in south Chennai. Officials said that crackdown against anti-social elements would continue in the coming days.
