One kg ganja seized from car, laptop technician arrested

The accused was identified as J Dileep (24) of the same locality. The police said that sub-inspector V Christy Manielraj and head constable Rajaraja Chozhan, who were on patrol duty, intercepted a car that was overspeeding on Besant Nagar second avenue around 7 pm. While the driver fled the spot on seeing the police, Dileep who was inside the car was secured. As he gave contradictory replies when questioned, the officers searched the vehicle and found one kilogram of ganja inside. Four mobile phones and a knife were also seized along with the contraband, said sources. He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody after an inquiry. The police have also launched a hunt for another suspect, who escaped from the spot, said sources.
