Another shocker on varsity campus, 20-yr-old ends life

The incident has created tension among the students as this is the fourth suicide reported this year, including three in the last two months.

The deceased was identified as SP Sree Raghav, a native of Kanniyakumari. He was studying final year B Tech at SRMuniversity.

According to the police, he was staying in a rented house along with his younger brother and two other friends. On Monday morning, his brother and friends left for college while Raghav was at home. After sometime, he reached the college and jumped from the seventh floor of a building. Soon, he was rushed to a private hospital inside the campus but was declared dead on arrival. On information, the Maraimalai Nagar police team visited the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination to Chengalpattu GovernmentHospital.

The police suspect that he took the extreme step as he had arrears in the last semester exams. According to sources in the college, a letter was found in Raghav’s house in which he had said that nobody was responsible for his suicide. He had also written two words as ‘Allam and Thattu’ in the letter. The Maraimalai Nagar police have registered a case, said sources.

This is the third suicide reported on the university campus in the last two months. In May, a final-year Biomedical Engineering student, Anupriya, committed suicide by jumping off the eighth floor of her hostel building. The next day, an 18-year-old first-year ECE student ended his life by falling from fifth floor of a building on the campus.
