Video of elderly woman chiding biker on pavement goes viral

The eight-second video shared on Twitter shows the woman, with a stick in her hand, warning a motorist who was trying to ride on the pavement near Ashok Pillar.

When contacted the person who shared it on social media, he said that he noticed the incident around 10.30 pm when he was on his way back home after work. “Initially, she asked the two-wheeler rider to get off. But since he did not move, she started shouting at him. With no option left, he got down from pavement,” he said. There are no details available about the woman.

Twitterati poured praises on her as she stood her ground to make the motorist mend his ways.

The video had received over 47,000 views, 3,000 likes and 1,200 retweets till Sunday night.

A reply to the video said that it is a common problem in Chennai. “Riding on wrong side is another problem. Have seen traffic police being mute to such blatant violations. The fear of traffic violation simply does not exist and the traffic cops need to stand up and take serious action,” reads the tweet.
