‘Dearth of docs, healthcare staff not addressed’
Dr K M Cherian, CEO and chairman of Chennai-based Frontier Lifeline Hospital on Friday said while Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has addressed the concerns of various sectors, it was unfortunate that there were no significant announcements for the healthcare sector.

In a statement here, he said, “With the acute shortage of doctors, nurses and paramedics and lab technicians in the country, it was disheartening to see that there was no conversation or even a provision in the budget to address this.”
There was also a dire need for R and D in Basic Medical Sciences and other areas, so that indigenous technology will grow, he added. “In addition it will help to reduce the out flow of foreign exchange, which has not happened,’ he said.
