    Angry over affair with sister, man stabs friend to death with beer bottle

    Angry that his friend developed a relationship with his younger sister, a man in Tiruchy stabbed him to death with a broken beer bottle. After stabbing the friend repeatedly, the main accused and his friends fled the spot, with the police hot on their hunt.

    E Sathyanarayanan, a 30-year-old resident of Bells Ground near Railway Colony in Tiruchy, was running a travel agency in Chennai a few years ago. But as the business venture was not a successful, he returned to his native five months ago and joined a three star hotel in Tiruchy as a supervisor.


    Sathyanarayanan use to frequent the house of his friend Henry Vinod (31), where he used to speak to Henry’s 19 year-old-sister. The casual friendship soon developed into an affair, but his friend had no knowledge about it.


    But a few days ago, Henry happened to stumble upon photographs of his sister along with Sathyanarayanan in her mobile phone. He then went through her WhatsApp messages and found that the two were in touch frequent. Infuriated by this, Henry scolded his sister but she reportedly remained firm about continuing the affair.


    Henry decided to threaten Sathyanarayanan to break the affair and invited him for a party late night on Monday. Henry also invited two friends for the party. He questioned Sathyanarayanan about the affair and insisted that they break up, accusing him of being a disloyal friend.


    This soon turned into a heated argument, during which Henry took a beer bottle and hit Sathyanarayanan’s head, inflicting a severe injury. He then took the broken bottle and stabbed his ribs and left eye. After he fell on the ground in a pool of blood, Henry and friends escaped from the spot.


    Seeing Sathyanarayanan battling for life, passers-by, rushed him to Government Hospital where he was declared brought dead.


    Based on his mother E Rajeswari’s complaint, the Palakkarai police have registered a case and are searching for the accused.
