Oz minister campaigns to save lives at sea
Australian Minister Counsellor Home Affairs, Tara Cavanagh launched her government’s new campaign to save lives at sea and deter vulnerable people from falling prey to people smugglers called Zero Chance here on Tuesday.

The campaign is a critical component of Operation Sovereign Borders and warns people of the criminal nature of people smuggling and Australia’s ongoing efforts to protect its borders. Through this campaign the Australian Government will continue to raise awareness of the dangers, consequences and utter pointlessness of attempting an illegal boat voyage to Australia, a release stated.
“The message of ‘Zero Chance’ is simple – anyone who tries to come to Australia illegally by boat has zero chance of success. No one will succeed. Anyone who says otherwise is lying,” the communique stated.
“Our surveillance and on-water response capabilities, teamed with cooperation from our regional law enforcement partners, will continue to ensure that anyone who tries to reach Australia illegally by boat will not succeed,” Cavanaugh said.
