City’s 2nd eco-park inaugurated at Paruthipattu lake
Following the positive public response to the city’s first eco-park at the Chetpet lake, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday inaugurated another eco-park at the Paruthipattu lake near Avadi in Tiruvallur district.

After inaugurating the park, through video-conferencing at a function held in the Secretariat, Palaniswami said the recreational facility was constructed with financial assistance from the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) at a cost of Rs 28.16 crore.
“A 3-km long foot path has been laid around the park for people to walk. An open auditorium with seating facility for spectators, play area for children, parking space, building for administrative purpose, canteen and boating facilities have also been set up,” the CM said.
Palaniswami also inaugurated a check dam constructed across River Kosasthalai river at a cost of Rs 7 crore at Adrambakkam village in Tiruvallur district, aprotective wall constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore at Masigam village in Vellore district, a scheme to strengthen the existing minor water streams at Veesur and Kattupalayam villages in Cuddalore district, a scheme to strengthen the bunds and to desilt the Kedilam river in Cuddalore district at a cost of Rs 22 crore.
The CM also inaugurated new roads constructed in Villupuram and Tiruvannamalai districts at a total cost of Rs 425.72 crore. The new projects include a widened road between Arani and Villupuram, which is part of the Arcot- Villupuram State Highway.
“As many as 35 new bus stops have been constructed on that stretch. Of them, 15 bus stops have lightsoperating through solar energy. Furthermore, 36,000 saplings have been laid on either side of that roadfor the benefit of the people,” he said.
Palaniswami also inaugurated a 10,000 metric tonnes capacity warehouse constructed at a cost of Rs 12 crore in Pethapampatti village in Tirupur district.
He also inaugurated various warehouses and buildings attached to the State Agriculture department constructed at a total cost of Rs 171.06 crore across Tamil Nadu.
