Two women steal jewels worth Rs 5L, caught on CCTV
Two women escaped with 150 sovereigns of jewels, estimated to be worth Rs 5 lakh, after entering the shop on the pretext making a sale, on Washermenpet-Tiruvottiyur High Road on Wednesday.

Around 2 pm, the women reached the shop when the owner Tarun Kumar’s father Misri Lal was present there. They asked him to show different jewels, but left the shop without buying anything. When Misri Lal was placing the jewels back in the rack, he realised that a box containing 150 gram of jewels missing.
He alerted Tarun Kumar who rushed to the shop and went through the CCTV footage. It showed two women stealing the jewels after diverting his father’s attention. Tarun Kumar lodged a complaint along with the footage at Korukkupet and the police have launched a hunt for the suspects. The police are also checking the records to find out if the women are regular offenders. Further inquiry is on.
